I really like our first session discussing the pandemic. Everyone has expressed their opnion and we were giving information about the conditions & government policies in their respective countries. There are so many we discussed about the pandemic from various perspectives ranging from policy, health, education, and economy. I think the first meeting was a very enthusiastic session, not quite a video meeting, but we were still continuing the conversation on the Slack for days. We shared news links and youtube videos so that other participants can easily understand

My favorite session overall was about Mental Health, I was overjoyed in sharing what I knew as a BS Psychology student. The discussion was very eye opening for others that were able to attend to the group meeting. The fact as well that it gave us insights into the different societal views of mental health in our many cultures. From our group discussions it has definitely impacted my awareness in the sense that I have a somewhat clearer perspective of what it feels like in the different cultures. Understanding more of the different cultures it makes me feel much closer to them. It also showed me that we are much similar to one another in ways we did not usually think of. Improving my daily behaviors by being more aware and sensitive to those around us.

The implications of the Covid-19 pandemic encompass us all. I view Project Providence as an opportune venue to share our experiences and learn important lessons from each other in our quest to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 3 - Good Health and Well Being. The online plenary and the exchange of ideas through our primary channel, Slack, have been most helpful in broadening our horizons on how other countries are dealing with the pandemic. It gives us a clear view of the depressing realities and the underlying factors why some of us are lagging, as well as great inputs on how some are winning this invisible war.Students were given the opportunity to team up with fellow students from other countries. I am certain that it would not only enlighten further their way of thinking but most importantly, encourage them to contribute to the solution by making concrete actions in their own ways, considering their current fields of study. On a personal note, I love the first session that was more of a "catch-up" and "introduction". It was great to know that we are never truly alone, and that what we are currently having is a collective experience as human beings.I also appreciate the session that tackled on mental health, since this is a timely and relevant issue. This pushed me to take up another online course in Yale University about Social and Emotional Learning. It was an enlightening course that enabled me to better relate to my students and be an adult figure who actually cares for them. I'd love to share it to all of you, given the chance!I hope that the Project will continue to be an effective platform to have an intellectual discourse among students and professors from various countries around the globe.More power to you, @Mark Lan and everyone behind Project Providence!

Ryan Kyle,

Getting to meet new people from across Asia was something I'd never expect to be doing in the latter part of 2020, primarily because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Being a part of Project Providence has definitely provided me with a whole new perspective among the different ideals of different people. The utilization of Slack really brought everyone together in the most convenient way possible. The online forum was a platform for us to connect and communicate - that being said, is an essential factor to me given the fact that it's my future career path. The online session was more than an exchange of ideas, but a reality check that tackles the many struggles that each and every one of us faces. With Sustainable Development Goal 3 - Good Health and Well Being as the core on what brought this group together, the time spent in the very few, yet worthwhile moments spent virtually were all put in to good use. When asked about my favorite topic, the one about mental health would definitely be mine. It just finds a way to connect with everyone in that particular level where everyone has the free will to be vulnerable. I, myself, took that session as a breather that, hey, everything will always find a way to be more than okay. It feels good to feel that 'you are not alone' message, even from a group of people whom I've just met online.Relating to the mental health discussion, it actually motivated me to pick a theory that concerns the mental state of someone, the Spiral of Silence, for my Communication Theory finals. It's basically a theory that tackles the factors relating to why or how muted groups are being 'silenced'. It is also very timely and relevant, especially to the youth in the present generation. All in all, being a part of Project Providence would always have a special place in my college life. The opportunity to be a part of a group of individuals, collaborating in making the world a better place, can possibly check something off my life bucket list. I am truly grateful to be a part of this project and I hope when the world is back to normal, we can all meet up and finally see each other in person.

As we are trapped in the comfort of our home due to the pandemic, being able to come together through an online platform has been an amazing experience. As a food technology student myself and someone who loves to see the different food cultures around the world, I think the third meeting is the one that I will never forget. It was the first time we all collected pictures to share with each other to truly understand the different food culture that we had. To my surprise, there were actually more similarities between each countries food culture than differences. It was also interesting to hear about the different eating habits and the meaning behind it. It opened my perspectives on how habits are perceived differently, where one habit may be considered appropriate in a country while others might consider it as inappropriate.Another "honourable mention" topic in my opinion is the discussion on mental health. It felt more like a sharing between us than a discussion. We shared what we see in our community and how we feel during this isolation. From this discussion, I became more aware that there might be people out there that had bigger struggles and are fighting to face them. I would like to thank everyone for this wonderful opportunity and I hope we can meet again in the future!

I kind of like all our sessions. But what impressed me the most has to be the food one. Getting to know about different cultures and how, in one way or the other, we share few cultures and few methods surprised me the most. Few things which I thought were exclusive in India were actually being done in other countries and probably for a longer time was something the shocked me the most. Apart from this, the first session where we discussed about pandemic was very insightful. This is probably the first time I have participated in this kind of a project so I was not sure what to expect. But during the session, sharing experiences and listening to how everyone are surviving the pandemic made me feel I was not alone. This whole project was very insightful and I was always waiting for our next meeting! I'd like to thank @Mark Lan and everyone who made this project possible because the meetings were something I was always looking forward to.

Thank you!

it's hard to choose my favorite one, but the happiness topic impressed me the most. i love how everyone decribe what happiness is. by reading and hearing it alone makes me wonder that the word happiness is too vague and everyone has their own perspective about this word. Overall i love every sessions, we shared many things and i glad that i get to know other cultures.

I'd like to say thank you to @Mark Lan and team, thank you for giving me such a great experience. Stay healthy for all of you!

I think mental health impressed me the most. The three topics above pandemic, food culture & eating habits and happiness somehow relate to mental health in a very special way. People's mental health is greatly affected by the pandemic because they cannot approach the services when needed. Also, "we are what we eat" raises awareness among us on a daily basis. Things that make us happy right now cannot come from outside in this situation. They come from inside. I think I am more aware of my mental health, and get more useful information that I have learned for sure. When it comes to everyone's mental problems, I would be a listener rather than an adviser. I realize the similarity and differences in our culture then eager to learn more from international friends. Thank you everyone.

"I really like the topic of happines the most, because i can see and understand many perspective of happiness from other people, one thing that we find just regulary, turn out it can be the very thing that can make people happy because we dont see it the way that people do, it really makes me rethink of happines and value things I've got in life rather than just omplain abaout what I haven't got.

First of all, I am very grateful for this flabbergasting opportunity. Honestly, it was hard for me to imagine this new ground or the so called "online avenue" that we are actually practicing right now. I could remember the first meeting that we had. Of course, it started with the general assembly, it is where I met my colleagues here at the Providence Project and I can say that I am a proud member of this group. As a political science student, international relations are very important for me, while this international relationship does not conform with the general idea that was thought to us (of course the political side and the government aspect of it) it is still equally fruitful and I've learned a lot from people involved in this grandeur project. I also appreciate that my colleagues are open to all of the ideas that was shared during and each plenary. I hope that the Project Providence will continue and maybe we can expand this amazing community. This project is indeed a very good avenue for intellectual discourse that involves the sweet sense of global unity.
